“I had heard all the compliments before. ’Cool moves,’ ‘I wish I could do that,’ and ‘You should be in a video!’”

As a dancer, Caleb appreciated the compliments. But they were always centered on him. Then it all changed. After performing a dance in church, someone said, “I’ve heard that song several times but I understood it after you danced to it.”

After that, Caleb knew what he was called to do. “My dance would be used to bring glory to God, not myself. But God still had to refine that vision.” He used you to do that!

Growing up in Florida, Caleb was immersed in both the Christian and Hip-Hop culture.

“My father was a pastor of a house church, so my environment was saturated with Jesus.” But even in this saturation, Caleb was lost.

“It wasn’t until I was 15 when the Lord saved me. My heart, through the power of the Holy Spirit, was turned to Christ and my life drastically changed.”

Caleb started dancing in 7th grade, influenced by both commercial and underground dancing.

“I can admit, N’SYNC got me started in dancing!”

As his passion and skill grew, along with his faith in Christ, Caleb knew he was supposed to use this dance. Caleb also had a growing passion for discipleship. Could these two passions be used by God?

In 2014, through a mutual connection, Caleb met Michael Swalley and Break Free.

“Seeing what Break Free did was like an awakening! I finally knew how my passion for disciple-making and dance could come together.”

Caleb now saw dance as a key to open doors to a community no one was reaching: Hip-Hop.

“We get to make disciples and build the church in Hip-Hop. We get to see generational change in the lives of these men!”

Now leading Break Free Dallas, Caleb is more passionate than ever to see disciples made.

“This is no longer just a dance thing. This is a kingdom calling. I may get hurt and never dance again. But my calling does not change.”

Caleb also gets to use his gift of teaching to help train the Break Free global team.

“I love seeing others have that same awakening I had. God really can use our passions for Hip-Hop and discipleship to build his kingdom!”
